Overview

Elsewhere is a cultural discovery platform for collecting and sharing art, music, film, and literature. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using Elsewhere, you agree to the practices described here.

Information we collect

Account information: your email address and a display name when you register. Profile information: the username, bio, avatar, taste tags, and interests you choose to add. Content you create: posts, collections, comments, likes, reshares, and follows. Usage information: the categories and tags you interact with, used to power serendipity recommendations. Device information: standard technical details such as device type and browser, collected automatically for security and reliability.

How we use your information

To create and maintain your account, display your profile and published content, provide discovery and recommendation features, send service notifications you have requested, moderate content reported by the community, and maintain the security and integrity of the platform.

What we do not do

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use behavioral data to optimize engagement metrics or build advertising profiles. Recommendations are designed for serendipity and editorial diversity, not to maximize time on platform.

Sharing

Your public profile, published posts, and collections are visible to other members. Private collections remain visible only to you and administrators. We share information with service providers that help us operate the platform, when required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our community.

Data retention

We retain your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time, after which we remove your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted authentication and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

You can access, correct, or delete your profile and content through your account settings. You can unfollow, unblock, or remove your interactions at any time. To request export or full deletion of your data, contact us using the details below.

Children's privacy

Elsewhere is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Third-party services

Elsewhere may link to external cultural sources such as books, music, and film platforms. Those services have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party sites.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the date above and notify members of material changes through the app or by email.

Contact

If you have questions about this policy or your data, write to us at privacy@elsewhere.app. We aim to respond within a reasonable timeframe.
