Watch a family hold its silence

by Asghar Farhadi, 2011

A marriage, a fall, a lie. A film where everyone is partly right.

8 October 2026

An Iranian couple decide to divorce; an old man falls; a lie spreads. Farhadi refuses to give you anyone to blame. Every character acts from a motive you can understand, and the damage compounds anyway. It is a masterclass in moral specificity, the kind of film that makes you argue with whoever you watch it with.
