Hou's tribute to Ozu follows a freelance writer who collects ambient sounds from Tokyo's trains. The camera watches her ride, eat, and sit with a friend who fixes old recordings. There is no plot, only attention. It is a film that teaches you to hear a city as a composition of small mechanical and human sounds.
